Assessing & Diagnosing Cracks Before Concrete Resurfacing
Before Spray Crete, DaniCrete assessed the existing concrete and the three main cracks. Cracks can be influenced by slab stress and movement, ground or sub-base movement, moisture migrating from beneath the slab, temperature changes, expansion and contraction, loads and other environmental conditions. The Greenacre client selected an enhanced, project-specific repair method for all three main cracks at an additional separately agreed cost. Those three repaired cracks received a 3-year crack-repair warranty. The completed Spray Crete resurfacing system is covered by a separate 5-year warranty; however, cracking itself and any damage caused by the return or movement of cracks are not covered under the Spray Crete warranty. Enhanced Repair Method
1. Isolating the Crack Zone from the Main Slab
Two longitudinal saw cuts were formed roughly parallel to each crack, one on either side. These cuts defined a smaller controlled repair zone around the crack, intended to reduce movement and stress transfer from the larger slab into the repaired area.
2. Creating Transverse Cuts to Connect Both Sides
After the longitudinal cuts, the crack was opened and prepared. Short transverse cuts were then formed across the crack at intervals. These are different from the two long parallel lines. When filled in the next stage, they help form a stronger mechanical connection — like stitching the two sides together.
3. Resin & Sand Repair + Surface Preparation
The crack, transverse cuts and the two longitudinal lines were filled using specialised resin and sand. After curing, the repaired areas were ground level with the surrounding concrete and the full concrete surface was mechanically ground and prepared for Spray Crete. We do not show a separate grinding photo because there is no real project image that clearly shows the grinding operation. After preparation, the longitudinal lines were re-cut as narrow controlled joints designed to remain visible through the finished surface.
Final Coating System
4. Applying Spray Crete & the Final Finish
After crack repair and full surface preparation, the Spray Crete system was applied. Decorative flake was added according to the client's selected colour and finish, followed by the final protective sealer.

The fine lines visible in the finished surface are part of the controlled repair method. They remain as narrow joint-like lines on either side of the repaired zone and are not presented as new cracks.

After the three main cracks were repaired, the full surface was prepared and the Spray Crete system was completed, the old concrete was transformed into a clean decorative finish. The critical work on this project was the crack assessment and repair carried out before the final coating system.
