How long does roof painting last?
The service life of a roof coating varies from property to property. Factors that may affect coating performance include the existing roof condition, roof material, surface preparation, coating system used, weather exposure, environmental conditions and ongoing maintenance. Any product or workmanship warranty applicable to a particular project will be stated separately in the written quotation or relevant documentation.
Can you paint both tile and metal roofs?
Yes. We work with concrete tile roofs, terracotta tile roofs and metal roofs. The suitability of painting and the required preparation and coating system depend on the specific roof type and condition.
Does my roof need full restoration before painting?
Not necessarily. Some roofs may require cleaning, preparation and coating only. Others may require additional work such as tile replacement, repairs, rebedding or repointing. The appropriate scope of work is determined after inspection.
Do you clean the roof before painting?
Roof cleaning is normally an important part of the preparation process where appropriate. The cleaning method and level of preparation required depend on the roof material and existing condition.
Do you repair cracked or broken tiles before painting?
Damaged or broken tiles may be replaced where required and where this work is included in the agreed quotation. The roof is assessed before work begins to identify visible areas requiring attention.
Can I change the colour of my roof?
In many cases, a roof colour can be changed. Suitability depends on the existing roof material, surface condition, coating system and available product colours. Colour selection is confirmed before coating work begins.
Why is primer important?
Primer may form an important part of the coating system. The type of primer required depends on the roof material, existing surface and coating system being applied. Not every roof uses the same primer or preparation method.
How many coats are applied?
The required number of coating layers depends on the selected coating system, roof material, existing condition and product requirements. The coating system proposed for your individual project will be specified in the quotation where applicable.
How long does roof painting or restoration take?
Project duration varies depending on factors such as roof size, roof condition, required repairs, preparation requirements, weather conditions and product application and drying requirements. An estimated timeframe can be discussed after the roof has been inspected. Weather or other conditions outside our control may affect the proposed schedule.
What happens if additional repairs are identified?
If additional work is identified that falls outside the agreed scope, it can be discussed with the client before additional work is undertaken. Any additional work and associated cost should be agreed before proceeding.
